Terrifier 3, the latest entry in the extremely gory slasher saga starring Art the Clown, was the #1 movie over the weekend staring down the other scary clown in Joker: Folie à Deux. With a budget of just $2 million, the unrated horror movie earned over $18 million which exceeded the $15 million from the entire theatrical run of Terrifier 2.
In the third installment of Damien Leone’s indie horror film, Art the Clown unleashes chaos on the unsuspecting residents of Miles County as they peacefully drift off to sleep on Christmas Eve. Returning cast includes Lauren LaVera, David Howard Thornton, Samantha Scaffidi, Elliot Fullam, and AEW superstar Chris Jericho.
Terrifier 3 was named by USA Today as one of the Top 10 most anticipated horror films of 2024.
Chris McGurk, CEO of Cineverse (Nasdaq: CNVS), the company that distributed Terrifier 3, revealed that only $500,000 was spent to market the movie. They were able to target horror fans through its Bloody Disgusting horror division and to generate awareness through Cineverse’s own portfolio of streaming services and podcasts.
Cineverse stock had traded as low as 72 cents a share in September, but has since recovered to $1.78 this week.
